Sweet and sensual, The Family Man was a completely enjoyable romance. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

29775882Description:
When life hands lemons to Beth Beverley, she makes mouthwatering lemon squares. Mostly because they’re coveted by the sexy single dad who owns Belmont’s most popular coffee shop. But that’s where her crush on Griffin has to end. Her sweet treats are selling like crazy cakes in his shop, and she doesn’t mix business with pleasure. Too bad his sinful smile has her flirting with the idea of forever.

Griffin Hall definitely needs to keep his eyes–and his hands–off Beth. Since he’s traded in late-night gigs and partying for bedtime stories with his little girl in his arms, he doesn’t have time for anything else. So why does Beth’s big heart and easy way with his daughter make him finally feel alive again? But there’s a little secret Beth doesn’t know, something he can’t bear to tell her . . .

Slick-Reads-Avatar---BoxI enjoyed Family Man by Kelly Eadon quite a bit; I liked that both these characters had some things in their pasts they weren’t too proud of, I liked that they went into their relationship with eyes wide open as to the challenges, and I liked that they both made mistakes and took accountability for them and communicated without a lot of undue angst. Romances are always tricky when there’s a child involved and in this case Mable (May) was a breath of fresh air, a bit of comic relief and a delight.

Beth Beverly has lived in Belmont all her life and enjoys the town and her friends despite having to file bankruptcy when her stained glass studio succumbed to the weak economy. Now working three jobs, Beth has her friends and keeps very busy and she also enjoys the days she delivers her muffins to Little Ray of Sunshine, a coffee shop in town, where she drools over the owner, Griffin Hall.

I enjoyed the slow build up to these two getting together and the fact that despite her nervousness Beth was immediately enamored with Griffin’s daughter, May and visa versa. This was a busy book with lots going on as Griffin tries to manage a business short on employees and Beth works her jobs and helps out Griffin with May when she can. What I appreciated was that they both admired each other for their creativity and imagination and fostered that in May as well.

Sweet and sensual, The Family Man was a completely enjoyable romance.
