She controls a technology empire. He controls her.

At just twenty-eight years old, Arya Rey has become queen of the tech world. While she is highly respected as a philanthropist and fearless businesswoman, no one would suspect that beneath her controlled exterior simmers a private passion. A desire never spoken of in Boston’s elite social circles. A need for submission, for satisfaction, for the kind of exquisite pleasure that can only be provided by one man . . . her billionaire ex-lover Maxwell Dane.

It’s been five years since Max and Arya last met. Five years that they’ve longed for the feel of each other’s skin. Max always takes what he wants, and he wants Arya back. But it’s more than the memory of her broken heart that makes her resist. During their time apart, Arya has collected secrets of her own. She can give Max her body, but can she give him the truth?

As a debut novel for Sienna Snow, I was highly impressed. Rule Breaker was intelligent and kinky and a new BDSM series of the wealthy and alpha that I truly enjoyed.

Arya was an interesting heroine. Self-made and dominant in the boardroom, submissive in the bedroom. A programmer thrust into the spotlight based on her intelligence and powerful company. Paired with Max, who was just as powerful, just as wealthy. But while they were equals in business, the dynamic changed behind closed doors. I loved watching Arya fight the attraction, I sympathized with her wanting to protect her heart, and I wanted these two to reach a place where they could make amends and move on with their lives together. Max was dedicated to showing Arya that he was the man for her, and it made me want to swoon at how persistent he was in pursuing her.

My only issue with this story was that I constantly felt as if I had missed a prior book (which I hadn’t). So much of the story was based on what took place in the past and referenced in such a way that made it sound as if I should have known about it already. I would have liked to experience first-hand the relationship between Arya and Max before it went sour, rather than viewing it in brief references to things that happened in the past. I would have liked to have a better understanding of Arya’s background without leaving me in confusion regarding the reasons why things had happened. I was confused and not liking it!!

But this feeling of missing a piece of Max and Arya’s history didn’t stop me from enjoying myself. We met several other Doms that were friends with Max, and I hope that their stories are next up in the series.
