I soon discovered that, it may have been a ménage, but it had a twist. I shouldn’t have second-guessed Mari Carr. I should have known that she would write an amazing story that was different from the other six before this. This time she mixes a whole lot of angst with the love. ~ Kitty, Guilty Pleasures

I really didn’t see this one coming. As the story started, I was a bit surprised that this would turn into another ménage. I soon discovered that, it may have been a ménage, but it had a twist. I shouldn’t have second-guessed Mari Carr. I should have known that she would write an amazing story that was different from the other six before this. This time she mixes a whole lot of angst with the love.
Sean and Chad were first mentioned in Come Monday. It’s funny, looking back at all the stories, the groundwork for each of them were laid out in Kiera and Will’s story. And, as each of the stories are told, you can’t help but think back to Come Monday and realize this. Any Given Sunday answers the questions that were raised with Sean right from the beginning.
I guess we really have to read Sunday’s line in the poem. “The child who is born on the Sabbath day, is bonny and blithe and good and gay.” Do you see any hints in that? I didn’t, until I got into the story and realized that Sean wasn’t only in love with Lauren, but with Chad as well. He had a loving, wonderful relationship with Lauren but knew that there was something missing. He often saw the far-away look in her eyes and knew that his eyes betrayed him on more than one occasion. But, he can’t go there again. He can’t handle the rejection.
Lauren knew there was something missing in her relationship with Sean. She loved him, knew he was the one she would spend her life with. But, she also couldn’t deny her feelings for Chad either. It was going to be hard working with Chad, having a life with Sean and not having all three of them together. She also sensed something with Sean, that he was holding something back from her and that it was huge. When two and two finally became three … the truth came out. Now, it’s up to her to make both Sean and Chad realize just what they could have – together.
Chad couldn’t help but feel like the third-wheel with Sean and Lauren. Yes, they were in the same house but he couldn’t wait for his apartment to be completed so that he could get away from the two of them making love. There was no way he could live his life being in love with Lauren and watching and hearing the two of them together and wishing he was there. All it took was one mishap and one kiss and he knew that his life would change. Whether it was for the good or the bad, he didn’t know. He did know that Sean had to be told and that the chips had to lay wherever they fell. What he didn’t count on was his feelings for Sean to finally come out.
A whole lot went one between Sean, Chad and Lauren. I have to admit that Mari Carr handled this story with kid gloves and made us understand just where all three of them were coming from. We knew why Chad was afraid of his feelings. We felt the love between Lauren and Sean. We saw the anguish in Chad and Sean when everything finally came to a head. We cheered when Sean and Chad finally had their moment together. Also, I couldn’t help but gloat a little when Chad got his comeuppance from K, J and Lily for his reaction to their little ménage.
So, it’s the end of the Collins Clan. Book 7 … 7 siblings, 7 stories, 7 happy endings. All that’s left is the memories of what each of them went through to get where they are today; of reliving their happily-ever-afters and wallowing in the depression of their stories ending.
I had the pleasure of reading each of their stories in succession then writing the reviews for them. I deliberately left out two major players throughout the reviews. Why? I knew that they were special. They were the glue that held this family together. They were the ones that set the bar high for them. They were the ones to only want happiness for them. Pat and Sunday Collins. The true heart of each one of the Wild Irish Clan. So, I think you know that it’s time to find out just how all of this started. On to a Wild Irish Christmas.
