There is one thing that I can always depend on with Elle Boon and it’s the one thing that will bring me back to reading her time and time again … she writes with honesty. What do I mean? Well, when she writes dialogue, you don’t feel like you’ve stepped into a porno. When Mike and Shayna make love, they talk like any two, normal people do. There’s nothing over the top, just plain old sexy talk. That’s a huge plus for me. I really don’t need to read “her pussy was gushing with her sweet juices just waiting for my monster cock to spear her and bring her to the best climax of her life.” Just give me the “yea, baby” and “more” and I am happy.

So, back to Mike and Shayna. Mike starts off as your normal body guard … all business and keeping his libido in check. He’s always on guard but slowly lets his true self come through. All it takes is one night, two songs and a threat for him to lose it and give in to his feelings.

Shayna knows she’s nothing like what Mike must be used to. She’s a violinist, not a model. But, she’s finally listening to her grandmother’s advice and living for today. Especially since she had no idea what tomorrow will bring. Between the threats to her life, the theft of the Stradivarius and being holed up with a gorgeous man, she’s going for it. She knows he’s not a happily-ever-after kind of guy; she knows that when a Macintyre falls, it’s hard and fast but, she’s willing to take the chance. When he pushes her away after her rescue, she’s devastated but knew that’s what he would do.

Now, we know that he shows back up in her life. It’s how he did it and what he said that melted my heart. For all of Mike’s gruffness, he really was a gentle giant and he was more than happy to let Shayna kiss his boo boo. (See, Elle’s words, not mine.)
