I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting wasn’t her usual rip roaring funny rom-com, this book was a bit more serious, it was charming, and it was very enjoyable. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

Blurb:
A new kind of love story about flipping houses, taking risks, and landing that special someone who’s move-in ready…

SHE’S GOT CURB APPEAL

Rian Sutter grew up with the finer things in life. Spending summers in The Hamptons was a normal occurrence for her until her parents lost everything years ago. Now Rian and her sister are getting their life, and finances, back on track through real estate. Not only do they buy and sell houses to the rich and famous, but they finally have the capital to flip their very own beachfront property. But when she inadvertently catches the attention of a sexy stranger who snaps up every house from under her, all bets are off…

HE’S A FIXER UPPER

Pierce Whitfield doesn’t normally demo kitchens, install dry wall, or tear apart a beautiful woman’s dreams. He’s just a down-on-his-luck lawyer who needed a break from the city and agreed to help his brother work on a few homes in the Hamptons. When he first meets Rian, the attraction is undeniable. But when they start competing for the same pieces of prime real estate, the early sparks turn into full-blown fireworks. Can these passionate rivals turn up the heat on their budding romance — without burning down the house?

I FLIPPING LOVE YOU, set in the Shacking Up world, follows two people, both working in real estate, who find themselves vying for the same properties in the Hamptons, leading to a sometimes-not-so-friendly competition.

It always surprises me when an author writes a book that has a different feel than her normal and it really shouldn’t, but I Flipping Love You by Helena Hunting wasn’t her usual rip roaring funny rom-com, this book was a bit more serious, it was charming, and it was very enjoyable.

Since the age of 18 Rian and her twin sister Marley have been pretty much on their own and figuring out how to make life work. Being successful real estate agents in the Hamptons have helped them work towards their goal of gaining enough capital to be able to flip some beach houses and save enough money t be able to buy their grandmother’s estate from the current owner when it goes on the market and given the state of disrepair it probably won’t be much longer. When Rian is approached in the grocery store by a man who defines bad boy and has an a$$hole demeanor to match, she if furious at his accusations until she realizes that it’s a case of mistaken identity and her twin has some explaining to do, what Rian can’t deny is the attraction she feels for a man she just met and one she knows won’t be good for her or her heart.

I actually love the way they met and the verbal foreplay between them for a good part of this book and while the first third of this book was pretty funny and somewhat snarky that mellowed as this story played out. That’s not a bad thing, it was just different and I enjoyed watching them spend time together, enjoy each other’s company in all kinds of interesting ways, and get to know one another even when Rian was holding back a good chunk of her life. Pierce turns out to be the opposite of a bad boy, he’s actually quite sweet and has a heart of gold and is perfect for Rian even if she refuses to admit it or open herself up to him. I loved that he was patient, kind, and even when he was angry he managed to think about what happened rationally and deal with the situation and Rian calmly. I liked Rian and it was obvious that life had made her guarded and that was warranted, but it was fun to watch her enjoy life again with Pierce even when at times she ran scared.

A sweet romance with a steamy, sexy side I Flipping Love You was a great summer read and one readers will no doubt enjoy!
