Where does she come up with some of this stuff?!? Mimi’s mind must be a fantastic place. Filled with blood thirsty unicorns and now, warrior squirrels and naked yoga cults, I stand in awe of her imagination. Her stories are funny and twisty and filled with enough crazy sexiness that I can’t put them down. I couldn’t have anticipated where Digging A Hole was going, but I gladly held on for the ride.

Talking place several months after Henry (Oh Henry) learns that his family has survived the plane crash that the world thought took their lives, we get his sister, Georgie’s, story. The cripplingly shy baby of the family, Georgie embarks on a sneaky plan to show her family that she is a capable woman and no longer the meek girl they have always found her to be. By taking an internship under an assumed name in one of her family companies, she hopes to make her mark and prove her value. The only problem is, she winds up working for the boss from hell.

Nick Brooks is fantastic. He is one giant jerk and I actually loved it! He was so over the top in his criticism, so rude, so flat-out mean that it was almost comical. But this was exactly what Georgie needed. As she put it, Nick was her own personal dragon she had to slay.

With quiet strength and at her own pace, I loved watching Georgie shed her shy exterior and turn it into a cloak of confidence. She cocooned herself in it and I enjoyed watching her emerge stronger with her head held high. All because of her boss. Who was basically the devil, come to life in the body of a sales VP.

I found the language of the book so endearing that one minute it would have me laughing at Georgie’s antics in sabotaging Nick, and the next, sighing in contentment as she describes Nick as “a man who can shed his armor for me, but at the same time show me how to wear my own.” The situations where outlandish, but the sentiments true and real.

The writing was amazing, the story adorable, and the characters just plain fun. I am looking forward to the next in this adorable series which is sure to be a winner as well! Bring on the Battle of the Bulge!!
