Anything But Love by Daisy Prescott is a fun, cheeky story (and yes that is a pun on the main topic in this story) set mainly on Whidbey Island in Washington. ~ Slick – Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews
Synopsis:
Another wingman bites the dust in this enemies-to-lovers standalone, small town romance.
For the past year, I’ve been working my butt off to start my own coffee company on Whidbey. A weekend in Cabo with sun, tiny bikinis, and vacation hook-ups is exactly the kind of tension relief I need.
What I don’t need is a bruised jaw, having to bribe my way out of jail, a hellion set on ruining my life, and my mother seeing a picture of my assets on “The Twitter.”
Caribou Caldwell is my worst nightmare. Unfortunately, she’s also the star of my sexiest dreams.
What happens when a small town guy becomes the focus of a million fantasies? As Erik Kelso navigates his sudden notoriety, will his feelings for Cari turn out to be anything but love?

I’m headed to Book Bonanza today and before going I challenged myself to read 5 new to me authors, today I’m sharing my thoughts on Anything But Love by Daisy Prescott.
Anything But Love by Daisy Prescott is a fun, cheeky story (and yes that is a pun on the main topic in this story) set mainly on Whidbey Island in Washington. I enjoyed this story, but I needed more time with the hero and heroine than with everyone cracking butt jokes and giving the hero a hard time.
While on a vacation in Cabo with his brother, Erik does some naked cliff jumping and then ends up putting on a show while trying to get his suit back on. Little does he know that impulsive act will have his a$$ go viral on social media and the evening news when it’s tagged as a famous musician’s bum, but once he’s identified Whidbey becomes a bit more crowded and the woman who took the photo who he has a bit of a history with shows up as well.
The premise of this story was cute and the author did a great job of showing how out of control some incidents can get with the advent of social media. When Caribou (Cari) shows up on the island Erik distrusts her immediately, but it becomes apparent she isn’t there to expose him any more than he already has been and their attraction burns brightly.
I liked Erik a lot and it was obvious he was working hard to make his co-owned coffee company Whidbey Joe a success, as well as helping his mom with his alcoholic father. Cari was a bit of an enigma, other than the fact she was raised in Albuquerque, NM, recently lived in California, and is a photographer by trade, we didn’t really get to know much more about her. Neither character was developed as well as I would have liked and as a couple these two spent most of their time arguing or sexing it up. While there was no doubting their attraction, I would have loved to see them spend more time really getting to know one another as people.
Erik’s a$$ shot going viral and being kept alive by a celebrity gossip blogger kind of overshadowed the romance relationship part of this story. I liked this book, but went in expecting a romance and that was lacking in this story.
While entertaining and fun, Anything But Love contained very little romance and love which left me a bit disappointed.
