This may just be my favorite yet. Snark backed up by substance is what Mimi does best. ~ Leigh – Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews
From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Comes a Saucy Minx of a Book, MY PEN IS HUGE.
(OHellNo #5 – Standalone.)
Synopsis:
Dear Mr. Merrick,
I quit.
And since you’re obsessed with your stupid pen collection, I thought it appropriate to take the big one you love so much and write my resignation letter. Kiss your pen goodbye, big man!
Because when I agreed to work for you—a hotshot journalist I’ve admired for years—no one told me that you had a secret life and that you’d bug my apartment, have someone killed, and make the moves on me just to test whether I’m serious about this job.
I mean, come on! What kind of boss does that? Yes, you’re ten degrees hotter than the sun, and you melt panties everywhere you go, but this “little intern” is done with your games.
From this day forward, consider me your mortal enemy, your biggest threat. Maybe your pen is huge, but my determination is bigger. See you on the battlefield, Mr. Big Pen.
Your ex-admirer,
Gisselle Walters
This addition to the Oh Hell No! series may just be my favorite yet, and proves that wit and sarcasm is what Mimi does best. I could not stop snorting and laughing while reading this story, and each time I read her books, I’m reminded over again of how much I love her writing style of snark backed up by substance.
This story lives in the Oh Hell No! world, so we get to see characters from the past books, even though this could certainly be read as a stand alone. But it’s always so much better when we see old friends, especially from a different perspective (I’m looking at you, Mitch “the Bulge” Hofer). My Pen Is Huge is devoted to the relationship between Gisselle and Leland, and these two blend together so perfectly.
Like oil and water.
Gisselle is a newly graduated journalism major looking for her big break interning for THE Leland Merrick, the intrepid and famous journalist who risks his life for each story and has set the gold standard in getting the scoop. Only, from the very start, Gisselle’s bubble is burst when she actually meets the elusive Leland. The pompous, arrogant (albeit sexy) British chauvinist that greets her by comparing “pen” sizes is not what she had in mind. What was intended to be a mentoring relationship quickly turns into a competition on who can get the story first, and as long as they manage not to get themselves killed in the process, it’s anyone’s guess which one will get it.
I did not want this book to end. I was thoroughly enjoying myself taking in the banter between Gisselle and Leland which seemed so natural. I could literally hear their conversations taking place, and the fake condescension in Leland’s voice. From outrageously awkward marriage proposals to Leland the lamb wanting butt scratches, there were so many giggles for me in this book. The roadblocks Gisselle and Leland threw in one another’s way to keep each other off of leads were adorable, and the way they fought so hard to stay enemies when they wanted to be lovers was just so satisfying to read.
This really should be the “Oh Hell Yes!” series because I can’t wait for more.
