I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series by author Jessica Peterson and Southern Heartbreaker is yet another scrumptious, sexy, seductive story. ~ Slick – Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews
Synopsis:
He was the bad boy I fell for in college. Now he’s a sexy single dad and Charleston’s most successful venture capitalist. Dominant and decisive, Ford Montgomery is used to getting what he wants. And he just set his sights on me…
Ford Montgomery was my first everything.
First love.
First guy I slept with.
First heartbreak when he dumped me without explanation.
A decade later, it’s just my luck he’s the first guy I run into after moving back to my hometown of Charleston. Three piece suit, tie, and a watch worth more than my car—being a mogul looks good on Ford. So does being a doting dad to his adorable four-year-old daughter.
I tell myself I can resist him. But one impulsive, ill-advised kiss later, and Ford is in hot pursuit. He’s determined to make up for his past mistakes, and convinces me to give him a second chance.
What started as fun between the sheets gets really serious, really fast. Problem is, I swore I’d never give up the dreams I worked so hard for to settle down and do the family thing.
But seeing Ford light up around his daughter—seeing how he’s chasing his ambitions while rocking fatherhood—is making me rethink what I want out of life.
It doesn’t help that behind his corporate veneer is the bad boy I fell in love with. And bad boys aren’t afraid to play dirty…or break hearts.

Eva has returned home to Charleston in hopes that being back around friends and family will
inspire her to find the direction she needs for her next cookbook. With a deadline looming, Eva is feeling a bit like a failure both professionally and personally as she can’t seem to help her parents past the riff that’s grown between them. While Eva knows the man who broke her heart 10 years ago is in town, she doesn’t expect the instant and immediate attraction to him the minute she sees him again. Ford is equally shocked by how their chemistry is still as hot as ever and he is also quick to apologize for the way he broke things off with Eva years ago. Eva is equally shocked to find that Ford is now a single dad and given that she never intends to have children this leads to a big time dilemma.
You’ll the heat between these two is off the charts, but what I loved about this book is that Eva reminded Ford that it is okay to let loose and that even as a single dad he is entitled to some “me” time and Ford and his daughter showed Eva that all families are different and not every family follows the same path leading to dreams dashed and unhappiness.
The fact that Ford was proud of Eva’s accomplishments and was quick to jump in and help her see what her focus should be on for her next book essentially paying homage to her mother whose own career dreams were dashed when she gave it up to raise her family was just icing on this delicious cake. I also adored that Eva wasn’t jealous of Ford’s late wife, that she asked about her, and when he mentioned her or told her stories about their life together that she truly wanted to know about the woman he had married and had a child with. While not everything was rainbows and unicorns although Bryce (Ford’s daughter would have been happy if it had been), these two were mature enough to talk about it, figure it out, and make changes that worked for all three of them.
Heart-warming yet with plenty of steamy sexy times, I loved Southern Heartbreaker.
