Smoke and Mirrors was a second chance romance that will truly light your fire. Interesting characters and a storyline that will leave you totally satisfied. ~ Kitty – Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Synopsis:

I’m taking a break from women. I’ve been lied to once too often, and I’m over it.
Then Isabel, my best friend’s little sister, blows into town without notice, bringing the past with her. Her secret past.

From the moment she crashes poker night and hustles the whole firehouse out of a couple hundred bucks, I know she’s not telling the truth about why she’s here.

Lies have influenced my entire life. They’ve also torn my world apart too many times already.

But by the time the truth comes out, she’s tangled around my heart like barbed wire, and there’s no way out unscathed.

From the moment I picked up this book, I knew that I would enjoy the story. Two characters who had a shared past with unresolved issues, a second chance romance, a bit of humor and firefighters.

Isabel and Logan were interesting. Logan was not one for lies and he picked up that Isabel wasn’t telling the complete truth. God, he loved her when they were young but how does he trust her after her disappearing act and the way she is acting now? And Isabel knows she will have to come clean sooner rather than later but has no idea how to tell everyone that her life after leaving Hood River was nothing but Smoke and Mirrors? She loved Logan and loves him again now. But, will he accept her for who she really is? As her past comes barreling in, she has no choice but to come clean and hope that Logan will be there in the end.

I truly enjoyed this story. It showed that the truth is always better than hiding behind the lies. It also showed that dreams may not be what exactly you thought they needed to be. Shoot for the moon but sometimes the stars may be shining a brighter light and give you more satisfaction than that moon ever could give you. And, the love between Logan and Isabel, the chemistry, shined through even brighter than the moon. Skye Jordan really gave us two broken characters that fit together to make a whole. She surrounded them with characters that enhanced the story and brought humor into what could have just been a plain old romance.
