The List was a bit of an opposites attract story with one man always looking for love and never finding it and one man who had love, lost it, and felt he didn’t want it again; a optimist and a pessimist, sunshine and darkness that kept me captivated from beginning to end. ~ Slick – Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

This book starts off the Second Chances series by Felice Stevens and it was a good book; being the first in the series we meet a lot of characters but the main characters were front and center the whole time which I appreciated greatly. The List was a bit of an opposites attract story with one man always looking for love and never finding it and one man who had love, lost it, and felt he didn’t want it again; a optimist and a pessimist, sunshine and darkness that kept me captivated from beginning to end.

All Elliot Hansen has ever wanted was to love someone fully and have that love returned. He didn’t have it in his childhood and while he loves his core group of friends that’s just not the same of what he craves. After another disappointing break up, Elliot feels dejected and his friends convince him that maybe he needs to just date and enjoy the dating life. What he doesn’t expect is to meet a man in a very unconventional way who proposes a friends with benefits relationship.

Winston (Win) Rogers had the perfect husband until he was taken away from him and while he has tried dating over the last 6 months, nothing has come of it. Meeting and helping his next door neighbor Win begins to feel things he didn’t think were possible again. While Elliot told him he’s a relationship guy, Win knows that’s not possible for him but having a bit of fun may be just what he needs.

Both these men had a lot of baggage and because of the nature of their relationship it wasn’t share early on in this story, thankfully they were pretty good at talking things through and working through any misunderstandings, however getting over their pasts was a much bigger issue for both of them.

I enjoyed this story and genuinely liked both men but felt they both needed some therapy. There was a bit more angst than I like, but it didn’t keep me from continuing to read. Elliot’s friend group was entertaining and interesting and I look forward to seeing their stories come to fruition.

Enjoyable and entertaining, The List was a good start to a new series.
