Danielle
My life was perfect or so I thought . . . It blew up in my face right before I was about to walk down the aisle. The life I’d so perfectly planned no longer existed.
Being a good girl was a gigantic waste of my time. What did it get me? A life crumbling down around me.
Maybe it’s time for a walk on the wild side. Seems to work wonderfully for my sister and best friend. Besides, how much worse could things get?Ryan came into my life with his laid-back charm and special piercing and turned it all upside down.
As it turns out things could get much worse. It was a night to remember, and boy, did I get more than I bargained for. And not necessarily in a good way.
Ryan
Danielle blew into my bar sad and looking for some horizontal revenge. What kind of man would I be if didn’t offer up my help to a woman in need?
She breezed out of my life that night as quickly as she breezed in. Until two weeks later, when she stormed back in, yelling and cursing me about things I didn’t do. I swear, it wasn’t me. But I was taking the fall for someone else.
Yet, somehow in the midst of all that, Danielle managed to capture my attention. Things in my life were good before our one night together. I never meant to fall for her. I just wanted to loosen her up and teach her how to enjoy life again. The last thing I wanted was to love her. Especially, if I’m just a way for her to get over her ex.
Laugh out loud funny, sweet, and sexy, My So-Called Perfect Life was a great summer read. ~ Slick – Simply Love Book Reviews
This is the first book I’ve read by K.A. Berg and I enjoyed it quite a bit. My So-Called Perfect Life features a woman who finds out on her wedding day her fiancé is a cheater and a bar owner who happens to be in the right place at the right time, or is he? Let’s just say they both get a surprise they weren’t expecting and no, it isn’t a baby.
Danielle is a kindergarten teacher who is super organized and plans everything in her life including the perfect wedding when she discovers her fiancé cheated on her on her wedding day with his assistant. She’s angry and sad after spending 9 years with the man, and while she has a bit of a pity party, for the most part she’s determined to move on with her life. I liked Danielle, she’s a bit high strung and she really shouldn’t drink heavily, but she seemed like a good person with a good heart.
Ryan knows the sad woman sitting in his bar is struggling but there’s something about her that calls to him, something he hasn’t felt before. When she loudly proclaims she’s going to find someone to sleep with he isn’t about to send her out into the city alone, so he decides to be the one to help her get over her ex, he just doesn’t realize she’ll become someone special in his life.
I liked these two together I think they were good for each other; Danielle settled Ryan and Ryan helped Danielle break out of her routine. I enjoyed watching them get to know one another and their chemistry was off the charts. They had some ups and downs and once again a man (Ryan) decided he knew what was best for her and made decisions on his own about them, something I hate, but in the end it worked out.
While at times I felt they acted a bit young for their age, actions of people in their early 20’s rather than those approaching 30, I let it go because I did genuinely like them both.
Laugh out loud funny, sweet, and sexy, My So-Called Perfect Life was a great summer read.
